What is my current public IP version 4 address?

How To

Your IT support, website hosting company, or email provider may occasionally ask for your public IP address. This is the internet-facing IP assigned by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to your home or business. Some users pay for a static IP that doesn’t change, while most have dynamic IPs that change periodically.

How to determine your current public IP address:

1. Use a computer or laptop at the desired physical location (home or business).

2. Open a fresh web browser or web browser tab.

3. Go to https://www.whatismyip.com or https://www.ipchicken.com

In the example screenshot below, the IPv4 address is: 123.456.789.012

4. Copy the IP version 4 information and send to the person requesting your IP address.

Security Note: Never share your public IP address with unknown individuals—especially those claiming to be tech support from companies like Microsoft or your ISP. Scammers may use this information to target your network. Only provide your IP to trusted contacts for legitimate technical support.
